EXCEED: Experiences of Students and Adult Participants from Vocational Mobilities in Finland

As part of the EXCEED project (Excellence in Green and Digital Manufacturing), mobility activities for Czech participants in Finland are continuing, combining vocational education and training, modern technologies and experience in an international environment. During 2026, both students and adult participants took part in mobility activities at the partner institution OSAO in Oulu.

Three weeks of vocational mobility for students

In May 2026, four students completed a three-week vocational mobility at OSAO. During their stay, they focused on areas such as electronics, robotics and manufacturing, and also worked in the FabLab environment.

The mobility gave them an opportunity to gain practical experience with modern technologies and to learn how vocational education and training works in Finland. An important part of the stay was also the experience of working and communicating in an international environment.

Nine adult participants also travelled to Finland

In September, the student mobility was followed by a one-week mobility for nine adult participants as part of the pilot testing of the “Manufacturing Managers” course.

The programme gave participants an opportunity to learn about the Finnish vocational education and training system and explore how modern technologies are used both in education and in practice. The mobility also provided space for sharing experiences and gaining inspiration for the further development of the course.

The pilot testing is also providing concrete feedback for further work on the course and its adaptation to the needs of practice.

Finland as a place for sharing experience

Both mobility activities provided participants not only with professional experience, but also with an opportunity to learn how education and vocational training operate in a different European environment. Communicating in English and working with people from different cultural and professional backgrounds were a natural part of the experience.

The EXCEED project focuses on developing excellence in green and digital manufacturing and connecting vocational education and training with the needs of modern industry. Mobility activities are one of the ways in which participants can gain first-hand experience in the environment of international project partners.

The final student mobility to Finland will take place in October 2026, bringing this year’s series of mobility activities within the EXCEED project to a close.
