Student and Adult Mobility in Finland and Pilot Testing of the Course

As part of the EXCEED (Excellence in Green and Digital Manufacturing) project, mobility activities for students and adult participants took place in spring 2026, alongside the pilot testing of the adult course “Managers of Mechanical Engineering Production”.

From 15 March to 4 April 2026, four students completed a three-week vocational mobility at the partner school OSAO in Finland. During their stay, they participated in activities focused on electronics, industrial processes, mechanical engineering, robotics, and the use of digital tools in the FabLab environment. The programme also included visits to specialised facilities and an introduction to the school’s technological infrastructure. Through these activities, the students gained insight into the functioning of modern manufacturing and the interconnection of various technical fields in practice, while also experiencing work in an international environment.

From 18 to 25 April 2026, a mobility activity for adult participants took place, involving 11 professionals from practice. This mobility was part of the pilot testing of the course “Managers of Mechanical Engineering Production”. The aim of the mobility was to familiarise participants with the Finnish vocational education environment and provide inspiration from practice. Participants visited OSAO and its specialised facilities, where they had the opportunity to observe teaching methods and technological infrastructure in areas such as electronics, robotics, manufacturing technologies, and laboratory activities. The programme also included demonstrations of modern approaches, such as the use of virtual reality, work with digital tools in the FabLab environment, and topics related to sustainable manufacturing.

In addition to the professional programme, an important aspect of both mobilities was the experience of how education functions in a different environment, as well as everyday communication in English.

The pilot testing of the course provided valuable feedback for its further development and adjustment so that it can better respond to the needs of practice.

Further pilot testing of the course and another mobility for adult participants are planned for autumn 2026. Students will take part in another mobility already in May 2026 and subsequently again in autumn of the same year.
